Plus smack bang into things at The Prince are AUSMUTEAUNTS and then in Adelaide GLASS SKIES.
See further info below on each.
Once dubbed a Kaiju Video Game nightmare, GODSWOUNDS are a strange electronic rock band that create strange electronic rock music. Having worked with musicians as diverse as members of SleepyTime Gorilla Museum, Melvins, Oxbow and Mr. Bungle, GODSWOUNDS do their best to cover the sound-canvas in thick, bilious, rainbow viscera, both jarring and alluring enough to dash up the focus of even the most Ritalin addled of Millenials. Album Death to the Babyboomers came out mid 2014.
MYSTERY SCHOOL (Brisbane)
Mystery School, the musical persona of artist Jhonny Russell, is a unique hybrid of electronic synths and beats with alternative post-punk guitar rock. The themes of his songs reflecting an interest in metaphysics, space, and all things occult and mystical. Jhonny also created the cover art for Dirty Pop Fantasy.
POLISH CLUB (Sydney)
Sydney’s Polish Club writes popminute mark, “the full-bodied howl of Motown’s finest frontmen is parsed through the garage rock scuzz of Detroit”. A two piece formed in Sydney in 2014, Polish Club are Pajak and Novak. With a guitar, a microphone and a drum kit, the duo like to get to the point, preferably in under two minutes.
OUCH MY FACE (Melbourne)
Melbourne’s Ouch My Face have been playing art-punk across Australia and New Zealand since 2007 winning fans for their joyfully expressive, riotous performances. 2015 marks the release of their debut album ‘Bunyip’ an exhilarating ride through the collective imaginings of Celeste Potter, Ben Ely and Ben Wundersitz. After producing, recordin, mixing and playing on the debut album Ben Ely has recently stepped aside from playing in the live band and they will be joined by Liz on bass for these dates.
Forming in the bedroom in 2011 because they were sick of the watered down ‘everything sucks and music used to be better and nobody understands my space echo and I wish I lived in Frisco’ music that was happening in their hometown of Geelong, Victoria, Ausmuteants were created. Ausmuteants are fast synth driven punk, for fans of Devo and Ramones. Ausmuteants are punks for people who hate punks. No leather, No studs, No politics. Ausmuteants hate punks. Ausmuteants sold out of the 33 copies of their first release ‘Split Personalities’ and decided to play shows. Since then have released tow albums – Amusements and the recent Order of Operation.
GLASS SKIES (Adelaide)
Glass Skies are a psychedelic rock band from Adelaide who write tunes about the good times and feeling good. Since their beginning in late 2012 they have played shows with Pond, The Datsuns (NZ), Brant Bjork (USA), Shonen Knife (Japan), Night Beats (USA), The Delta Riggs and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. New single ‘Still Here’ out now.
Verging on 22 years since forming late 1993 and playing 800 plus live forays from their first public performance early 1994, Regurgitator will release their debut live album around their upcoming Cheap Imitations tour. Regurgitator have always embraced their flaws, their limits, fucked with technology, genre… the entire twisted process. Worked it as hard as they could, pushed all over the place in the quest for bettering themselves, shifted farther and faster than could stay on their feet, and endured time stronger for it. In the end what is the imitation but a simulacrum of the live performance… the meticulous production of the recording versus the spontaneous energy of the in-the-moment live representation of the song. And now the meta-imitation with all the spikes and bumps of this raw and inspired collection of live recordings dating back to Oct 2012 captured over two crazy nights at The HiFi, Melbourne – “Nothing Less than Cheap Imitations: Live at The Hi-Fi Oct 2012”.
